Rosanne Cash takes a bleak view of life on `Interiors'

ALBANY, N.Y. It's tough to tell from her music, but singer-songwriterRosanne Cash says she has been in a good mood lately.

The country-pop star was late for an appointment to talk abouther brooding new album, "Interiors," because she was stuck behind theeasel. Cash had been painting a picture of a distraught woman with atriangle drawn on her throat.

Even for a woman who says she enjoys "taking flashlights intodark corners" in her music and painting, "Interiors" is a sharp turninward.

It's a vulnerable album for a woman who, with husband RodneyCrowell, formed a hip royal couple on the Nashville music sceneduring the 1980s.
