NSW:Keli Lane murdered baby, court told

EDS: Replaces killed story, with second and fourth paras amended





A Sydney jury has been told a women's waterpolo champion became pregnant five times
in seven years .. but didn't want to be saddled with the responsibility of having a child.

In his crown opening address in the New South Wales Supreme Court .. MARK TEDESCHI
QC says KELI LANE instead had two terminations and murdered one of the infants.

35-year-old LANE has pleaded not guilty to murdering TEGAN LANE .. when the child was
only two days old .. after being discharged in September 1996 from Auburn Hospital.

LANE's also pleaded not guilty to three perjury counts .. relating to an affidavit she signed.

Mr TEDESCHI is continuing his opening at the trial before Justice ANTHONY WHEALY.
