NSW:Anti-asbestos campaigners to protest at Canadian consulate

Unionists and anti-asbestos campaigners will call for Canada to ban the export of asbestos
products during a protest outside the country's consulate in central Sydney today.

The protest will be held outside the Canadian Consulate in The Rocks from 10.30 am (AEST).

The Australian Manufacturing Workers Union has labelled Canada's export of asbestos
sheeting to south-east Asian countries as irresponsible.





AMWU acting New South Wales secretary TIM AYERS says the product doesn't come accompanied
by clear information about its dangers and isn't governed by Occupational Health and Safety
regulations.
